This is a header in a menu at a diner type restaurant near my house.  I think this header is bad overall. There is no real baseline since every letter is shifted in some way. The size of almost every character is different. The header also has an awkward drop shadow and that looks like there is a grain filter on it. While the characters themselves have shadows cast on them to make them to look dimensional. Overall there is just too much going on.

This is the chico's sign at the Tanger Outlets. I chose this as an example of good typography since they used the apostrophe correctly. I also like the typeface overall. The block-like letters yet rounded edges work well together. The shortness of the ascender on the lowercase h is perfect because it does not bring attention to that character more than any other.
