In my opinion this logo works very well. I enjoy how they included the word within the imagery is great. Using the f's as steam was a great solution, instead of just including the word under or on the side of the logo. That was something I had struggled with when I was creating my logo. I also think the extra swirl on the C to separate it from the e's makes sense but I am not sure it works. I feel less swirl might have worked better. Friday, May 4, 2012

This is also an example of bad typography. The kerning of the characters is too close to begin with and on top of that the fact that they raised every other letter higher makes readability more difficult. Since all the characters are white, the overlapping letters look like one shape, not distinct characters

This is an example of bad typography because they are misusing the apostrophes throughout the sign. Also, the kerning is very uneven. For example, between the K and T in worktops compared to the T and O.
This is an example of bad typography. This picture is from my English Composition textbook. The reason that in my opinion this is bad is that this two column chart has a one word widow that goes onto the top of the second column. The extra word is in, what in my opinion, is the header section of this chart and is even more separated from the rest of the information by a rule line.

This an example of bad typography. The it is difficult to read because the hierarchy is off. I am not really sure why there is so much emphasis on the a. That letter looks more like a logo than part of a sign. Also there are three typefaces on it which is one to many.
I think this is another example of bad typography. The readability on the last E is very difficult. Also the pyramid shape the text is constructed into, in my opinion, does not remind me of cheese regardless of how circular the counters are.

I think this is an example of good typography. The kerning on the bottom line is even and well done. The rule between the top and bottom line is placed well and the distance between the D in STUDIOS and Mickey's foot is enough that it does not seem to collide.
I also think this is a good example of typography. I enjoy the ampersand a lot and I think the overall kerning is well done.

This is a header in a menu at a diner type restaurant near my house. I think this header is bad overall. There is no real baseline since every letter is shifted in some way. The size of almost every character is different. The header also has an awkward drop shadow and that looks like there is a grain filter on it. While the characters themselves have shadows cast on them to make them to look dimensional. Overall there is just too much going on.
