 This is an example of bad typography.  The kerning of the word closed is far too spaced out but, at least it is all capital letters when they spaced it like that. Although in my opinion the capitals are unnecessary to the sign because it is already bright red, it is like they are pushing it in the reader's face that the establishment is closed.
 This is also an example of bad typography. The kerning of the characters is too close to begin with and on top of that the fact that they raised every other letter higher makes readability more difficult. Since all the characters are white, the overlapping letters look like one shape, not distinct characters
